Abstract

This study explores the concept of Craftistic Tectonic in contemporary architecture as a response to the decline of materiality and sensory experience in the industrialized era. Craft is redefined as a socio-cultural practice, and Craftistic Tectonic is presented not as a surface-level expression but as a fundamental construction principle rooted in tectonic logic. An integrated framework consisting of Material, Making, Sense, and Construction is used to examine how material intelligence and fabrication processes operate across multiple scales, from architectural details to overall spatial organization, in shaping architectural space. Case studies of Kengo Kuma and Hyung-Chul Shin demonstrate that the integration of material intelligence with advanced fabrication techniques produces a unified system of structural rationality and multisensory experience. Ultimately, Craftistic Tectonic is identified as an advanced architectural strategy that restores authenticity and cultural depth by reconnecting human sensory perception with the specific qualities of place.
