Abstract

As the number of users of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs increases and non-faceto- face activities increase due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the desire for non-face-to-face online learning, including mobile learning, is also increasing.
Accordingly, this study was conducted to deduce mobile UX design analysis criteria items necessary for online lectures by observing and analyzing online lecture use processes at cyber universities in Korea to apply effective mobile UX designs for non-face-to-face learning environments.
According to the case selection criteria, three cyber universities (Korea, Sejong, and Hanyang) were selected as cases for final analysis, and UX design criterion elements were established to analyze mobile learning through the examination of UX design elements and the characteristics of remote classes and mobile commerce. Through expert interviews, UX design criterion elements were verified and a survey was conducted for general users using verified UX design criterion elements to compare and analyze the mobile UX designs of cyber university online lectures.
Through the results of comparative analysis, mobile UX design analysis criteria that can be used for online lecture analysis at general universities as well as cyber universities were presented.
Elements that should be considered when making UX designs for effective mobile learning included usability, value, adoptability, desirability, ubiquity, interactivity and instant connectivity. In addition, it was found that users also place importance on the element of value. In particular, it is necessary to consider a UX design plan that can induce interest and satisfaction while using mobile learning to improve value.
Mobile environments make it difficult to effectively expose content due to screens that are limited compared to PCs, and there is a limit to various configurations of content, so research must continuously be conducted on UX designs that can implement optimal environments.
