Abstract

This article mainly discussed about the relations between the Manchu and the Khorchin Mongols around the early 17th century. On the eve of the Qing conquest to the Mongols, Manchu was surrounded by the Mongolian enemies of the Borjigin-Chinggisids. The struggles among them had been lasted until the middle of 18th century for the supremacy in the Inner Asian steppe.
In the Imperial Records as the series of Qingshilu, Wanggongbiaozhuan, Fanglue and so on, the Khorchin mongols was described as the faithful partner to depend on. Oba Tusiyetu Khan, the leader of the Khorchin mongols, represented himself as the ninth son of Nurhaci, actually he was a son-in-law of the Shurhaci, a younger brother of Nurhaci. But the Records from The Mongolian Manuscripts from the First Historical Archive in Beijing(『內閣全宗・蒙文檔案』) show us the different sides like as political conflicts between the Manchu and the Khorchin mongols. What is more, even though unsuccessful but, we can find several attempts to make confederation between the Chakhar and the Khorchin mongols.
So in this article I examined that the Qing court made more efforts for taking the royalty oath from the southern mongolian tribes, like as Khorchin, than the narratives described in the official historiography of the Qing court.
