Abstract
It is no exaggeration to say that the technologies that are attracting the most attention in recent years under the influence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and technological development are AI and 3D printing. The continuous development of 3D printing technology is also being applied to products in the field of metalwork, accelerating the change and diversity of production methods. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to design and develop a lightweight ornament (brooch) that incorporates the traditional line inlay technique of inserting metal wire rod into the body of the jewelry printed with the most popular FDM type equipment. To this end, we first understood the characteristics of line inlay technique and 3D printing technology through various literature materials and works, and conducted a comparative sample of laminated surfaces with the easiest accessible FDM equipment and PLA material. Based on this work, the brooch, which is relatively advantageous in using the line inlay technique, was designed, and 3D modeling and 3D printing were carried out for production. In the process of this work, we identified some problems and analyzed them to suggest improvement plans, and as a result, we were able to confirm the possibility of applying the line inlay technique to the 3D printing results. Through this study, it is hoped that the modern cutting-edge technology of 3D printing will help to broaden the scope of its use in the development of works and cultural products in the field of metalwork.
