Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the KSAE electric car named “EF16” which was developed in 2016 and won several prizes. To conduct an objective evaluation, a “4 parameter evaluation method” which is well-known as an authoritative evaluation method in determining vehicle handling performance, was used. To obtain the parameters, an impulse steer analysis was performed according to ISO 7401. Also, easily modifiable design parameters were chosen for having an impact on the four parameters, and simulations were done with changing values. The results in each case revealed the influence on the four parameters. To improve practical performance prior to a race, lap times on the Gymkhana course were evaluated. Finally, the relationship between lap times and the four parameters was established after the results were analyzed. Then, the obtained condition for the best lap time was proven after all the four parameters were met.
