A 800V/14V Soft-switched Converter with Low-Voltage Rating of Switch for xEV applications

Abstract

This paper proposes 800V/14V soft-switched dc/dc converter with low-voltage rating of switch for xEV application. The proposed soft-switched converter has theoretically zero dc magnetizing current offset. Also, low-voltage rating of switches makes it possible to achieve low conduction loss and switching loss. It also achieves ZVS turn-on of all switches over the entire load and input-voltage variation. The proposed converter is compared to some low-voltage dc/dc converters. Experimental results form a 2-kW preliminary lab prototype of the proposed converter will be presented to verify the validity of the proposed concept and operation for xEV applications.
