Abstract

As the broad band portable internet services are getting inevitable to meet the customer's needs, more cost-effective network infrastructures capable of accommodating these requirements are developed and introduced. The evaluation process of selecting a suitable network infrastructure is a multi-criteria decision making problem and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach has been proposed to analyze this problem. In this paper, the performance criteria for evaluating market competitiveness of the three telecommunication networks are considered and the hierarchical structure of performance evaluation process is developed. Identified are the four competitive factors which are financial, technical, techno-strategic, and political ones. Subsequently the weights for those performance criteria are derived and the preferences of each alternative network are assessed to evaluate the competitiveness of the alternative networks.
