Abstract

This paper proposes a new single-phase single-stage ac-dc converter that achieves several advantages such as 1) high-frequency isolation; 2) bridgeless totem-pole structure operating in CCM; 3) ZVS turn-on for all switches; 4) ZCS turnoff for all diodes; and 5) low component counts. The proposed converter implements a phase-shift-based modulation strategy that results in 1) open-loop power factor correction; 2) maintained soft-switching characteristic throughout wide voltage and load range; 3) simple power control; and 4) wide output voltage range. Experimental results on a 1.5kW peak prototype verify the working principle and features of the proposed converter.
