Abstract

This paper describes a simple method for measuring the cogging torque of Brushless DC (BLDC) motor using a dynamometer in low speed rather than cogging torque meter. Cogging torque in BLDC causes torque and speed ripples along with acoustic noise and vibration that it is important to accurately measure the cogging torque in order to minimize those problems. The simple and novel cogging torque measuring method by using dynamometer is explained and experimental results are shown and analyzed.
