Abstract

This study is conducted to assess the current satisfaction of residents with urban living housing type and to determine whether the satisfaction of residents in urban living housing type, introduced since 2009, has improved and whether the issues identified in previous studies have been addressed. Previous studies consistently pointed out problems such as a shortage of supplementary welfare facilities (community and leisure facilities), insufficient parking space, inadequate convenience facilities, and issues related to low investment value. In this satisfaction survey, issues like noise (within units, between units, and external), insufficiency of supplementary welfare facilities, parking space shortages, and the persistence of low investment value are still affecting overall satisfaction. Ideally, securing all parking within the complex or on-site and allocating some recreational spaces would be the best approach, but this can be challenging, especially within smaller plots of land. Nevertheless, the need for urban living housing continues. In order to address these challenges, it is important to propose solutions for securing parking and supplementary facility spaces, both in terms of policy and regulation. Additionally, it is equally crucial for the city of Seoul to ensure that within residential areas, there is an ample supply of spaces for sports facilities, community parks, cultural centers, and childcare centers within the living environment.
