Abstract
A printed transparent metasurface leaky-wave antenna (LWA) having a sector pattern for on-glass applications is presented. Taking into account material losses, the total tangential fields on the antenna surface are synthesized to realize a desired far-zone pattern. The associated surface impedance is physically realized as an array of patterned silver sheets on a transparent PET substrate with a meshed metal ground. As a design example, a seven-wavelength-long transparent LWA is designed and fabricated, radiating a 60°-wide sector beam at 10 GHz. The fabricated LWA exhibits a 54.5% optical transparency and desired radiating characteristics.
