Abstract

A zeta-flyback resonant DC-DC converter for LED driver is proposed in this paper. In the proposed converter, an isolated zeta converter is integrated with a flyback converter to improve power density by sharing components in the primary side (main switch and transformer core). Therefore, the energy of the magnetizing inductor bipartitely resets and the counts of components are reduced. Moreover, the transformer provides galvanic isolation for electrical safety. Additionally, the zeta topology has an output LC filter which can reduce the ripple value of the output voltage and current. In order to verify the theoretical analysis and power efficiency, a laboratory prototype is implemented with output power 100W (input voltage of 300V, output voltage of 48V).
