Abstract

The rate of ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) diagnoses among adolescents has been increasing recently. ADHD is characterized by attention deficit, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which hinder the planning and execution of study schedules. Furthermore, emotional difficulties such as feelings of depression and anxiety also play a complex role, leading to decreased academic achievement and reduced self-esteem. While active involvement from stakeholders is necessary to address these issues, the lack of an integrated support system for students with ADHD limits the improvement of their academic performance. This study aims to propose a direction for the design of a mobile service that provides continuous and effective support for academic achievement, taking into account the symptoms and characteristics of students with ADHD. It was found that ADHD students feel vague and uncertain about setting and executing learning goals. They experienced failure in achieving goals due to attention deficit, lack of learning motivation, and decreased self-confidence. Furthermore, repeated experiences of learning failure led to reduced self-esteem. Based on these findings, a mobile application prototype was proposed, featuring content-based services utilizing competitive psychology, planning and goal-setting services, learning report services, and integrated medical and counseling report services. ADHD students, due to the nature of their condition, experience repeated failures in achieving goals, which can lead to chronic social maladjustment. This study proposes a design direction for a mobile service that helps ADHD students plan and achieve goals and builds an integrated support system. By integrating innovative digital tools with tailored psychological and academic support, this initiative has the potential to empower students with ADHD to achieve their full potential. Future research is expected to bridge the learning gap between ADHD and non-ADHD students and provide a fundamental solution to overcome societal prejudices against the condition.
