Abstract

A zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) cascade boost converter is presented. A coupled inductor is used in the proposed converter to obtain soft-switching characteristic. Soft-switching characteristic of the proposed converter reduces switching loss of active power switches and raise the conversion efficiency. The asymmetric pulse width modulation scheme is adopted to regulate the output voltage. The principle of operation and system analysis are presented. Theoretical analysis and performance of the proposed converter were verified on a 100-W experimental prototype operating at 100kHz switching frequency.
