Abstract

This paper proposes a design method of a beacon antenna that can be applied to a smart block for position dctcction. To mount the bcacon module on the smart block, a metal ease must be used for mechanical strength. In the ease of commercial bcacons, invcrtcd-F antennas arc widely used in consideration of the size. However, since the invcrtcd-F antenna radiates in all directions, it is greatly affected by surrounding metals. In this paper, performance deterioration is simulated when an Invcrtcd-F antenna is placcd in the beacon's metal ease. In addition, a Planar Invcrtcd-F Antcnna(PIFA) is proposed to minimize performance degradation. As a result of the simulation, the radiation efficiency performance of the conventional Inverted-F antenna decreases sharply from 48% to 4% by adding the metal case. However, the radiation effi ciency of the proposed PIFA is observ ed to be 93% regardless of the presence of a metal case 2021 The Korean Society for Railway. All rights reserved.
