Abstract

An alternate application of a dichroic mirror in an ac-PDP was addressed. LaF3and MgF2were chosen as the high and low refractive index materials of the dichroic mirror, and their optical constants were determined using the measurements of the transmittance and reflectance of thin films and the iterative modeling. The dichroic mirror was designed to have the central reflection zone at the 147 nm VUV. The test panel experiments with He-Xe or Ne-Xe discharge showed that the adaptation of a well-designed dichroic mirror could increase the luminance and luminous efficacy by 20%-30% in ac-PDPs.
