Abstract

This paper investigates the behaviour of the model tunnel adjacent to a row of loaded piles during tunnel excavation. Laboratory 2D model pile-soil-tunnel interaction test has carried out using a multisized aluminium rod mixture. To analyse tunnel centre movements according to the volume loss values (2D), a close range photogrammetric technique was adopted in the model pile-soil-tunnel interaction test. The test result showed that tunnel movement was greatly influenced by the pile tip locations on which pile working load was mainly concentrated. Through this study, it is believed that the model tunnel itself may be shifted when a line of loaded piles located on close to the tunnel perimeter.
