Abstract

The anchorage zone of post-tensioned concrete is subjected to high level of concentrated force by a tendon which produces tensile bursting stress as well as compressive hearing stress. These stresse s are main interest in structural design of the anchorage zone. Because of its complex local behavio r in the anchorage zone, a simplified method based on strut-tie analogy model has been being used for many years in estimating the bursting force, the location of maximum bursting stress and allowa bie hearing stress. However, as many efforts have been devoted to reduce the size of anchorage zon e, shape of anchorages has become complex resulting in complicated stress distribution in the anch orage zone. In this paper, bursting stress distribution according to the shape of the post-tensioning a nchorage is reviewed. In order to analyze the anchorage zone behavior, linear and nonlinear FE ana lyses were conducted using 3D solid element. Number of rib, position of rib, stiffness of rib, and et c were chosen as variables in the analyses.
