Abstract
The electronic structure of monolayer graphite on (111) and (001) surfaces of NbC was studied by angle-resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy. The monolayer graphite on the (111) surface shows decreased π band initial state energy than that on the (001) surface. This phenomenon is discussed in the viewpoint of charge transfer from the substrate to the graphite overlayer. It was revealed that there was much more charge transfer for the C/NbC(111) system than for the C/NbC(001) system.
