Abstract
Increasing interest in immersive media service accelerates ultra
high definition (UHD) service realization. Several Korean
broadcasters have started terrestrial UHDTV testing services for
the first time in the world at the end of February 2017 based on
the standard method which was fixed recently. However, large
screen of 60-inch TVs, which are aimed at UHD services, have
been already on sale since 2013. In this paper, we present a
design method of a set-top box for terrestrial 4K UHD
broadcasting service. The proposed set-top box can be an
efficient countermeasure against TV users who have already
purchased large-screen UHDTVs.
