Abstract
For the terrestrial ultra-high definition (UHD) broadcasting service, technical issues on the transmission system are considered in standards bodies. In several countries, experimental broadcast for UHDTV is underway. Based on the experimental results, it is necessary to determine the transmission specification and to design system parameter carefully. In this paper, we present the measurement results of the experimental UHD broadcast, especially in the indoor antenna environment as Well as a rooftop antenna environment. The results indicate that the required carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) is similar to the baseband simulation results. However, it is necessary to have some CNR margin at the receiver and to adopt high-gain directional receiving antenna for a stable reception of UHD broadcast service.
