Abstract

Test Hybrid Dryer, whose total power consumption is about 4 kW, can dry 20∼100 kg products at a time. With this dryer, it is possible to test the hot-air drying and cold-air drying besides the hybrid one. And, moreover, there are no difficulties to compare coefficient of dehumidification (kg/kWh) quantitatively by the drying types. All records which can be measured by KS B 7944 Agricultural Products Dryer, Korean Industrial Standards, will be used as the important performance test data. There is a recorder installed to prove the outstanding performance of hybrid dryer. The recorder basically consists of totally 12 channels to measure the condition: temperature and humidity of drying chamber has 2 channels, temperature and humidity of outdoor air has 2 channels, high pressure and low pressure of refrigerant has 2 channels, temperature and humidity of hybrid dryer outlet has 2 channels, temperature and humidity of hybrid dryer exhaust air has 2 channels, measurement of power consumption has 1 channel and spare (measurement of weight) has 1 channel. With this test hybrid dryer, the drying test with the sliced radish and shiitake mushrooms has been carried out mainly. For the sliced radish, coefficient of drying by hybrid drying is 0.967 kg/kWh and the one by cold-air drying is 0.631 kg/kWh. For the shiitake mushrooms, coefficient of drying by hybrid drying is 0.227 kg/kWh and the one by the cold-air drying is 0.135 kg/kWh. According to these values, the hybrid dryer can be the best available in performance.
