Effect of Laser Nitriding in Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Mold Steel

Abstract

To improve the life of the AISI P21 Steel used in the injection mold, a high-power diode laser is applied for the laser nitriding process. As a result, a precipitate layer is formed, and successfully achieved the surface hardening.
