Abstract

This paper visualized the construction of underground distribution facilities by applying videos and devices on site to 3D GIS tools and information technology in order to improve the quality of the work and to minimize potential fault. KEPCO has been successful in building an efficient power facilities management system using 2D GIS, but unfortunately had a certain limit in preventing faults from faulty construction and providing on-site information fast for recovery in case of unexpected power failure. The system introduced in this paper prevents faulty work and sudden fault. In addition, in case of underground facilities fault, on-site information at the time of original work is provided to engineers, so that it can contribute to the reduction of recovery time and maintenance costs.
