Abstract

Studies to prevent human error in urban railway workers have been actively conducted. However, no analysis method for reducing human error has yet been widely performed and, so far, research has been conducted only in narrow terms. This study intended to have a broader approach to analysis of the causes of human error of railway workers, rather than simply looking at that error from a human engineering perspective, based on the analysis of organizational management and railway accident cases. In particular, it presented the differentiation and excellence of a causal loop diagram by introducing a model of existing human error analysis and comparing it with the causal loop diagram of System Dynamics utilized in this study. Comparison of the human error analysis model and causal loop diagram, and large rail accident case analysis, show that human error of railway workers is more likely to be the result of organizational error rather than being simply individual.
