Abstract
In urban railways, which make up a large portion of public transportation in large cities, users are dissatisfied with trains that run later than scheduled times. However, due to the lack of detailed data on scheduled operation, storage of operation data in closed systems, and statistical data on delays of more than 10 min. in domestic urban railways, understanding of the problem and potential improvements are so far insufficient. In this study, a train delay is defined as a delay of 5 min.compared to planned time interval, based on interval between front and rear trains. This study also suggested how to manage data related to 5-minute on-time rate by setting the rate as less than that; how to include on-time items in the management evaluation; and how to reflect 5-minute on-time rate in the on-time evaluation score. As a result of analyzing three months of operation results, the five-minute on-time rate was found to be 97.8 percent, and the calculated one-year five-minute on-time rate was applied to the institution's on-time scores for the relevant year. These results can be of great interest in studies of on-time performance of urban railways and for rational evaluation of on-time operation.
