Abstract

A Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is highly valued and widely used for its simplicity; however, a low end PLL is inadequate to estimate a synchronous angular frequency due to a longer response/locking time. An auxiliary synchronous angular frequency error compensator is proposed to shorten the response time of the low end PLL and obtain an improved estimated synchronous angular frequency. It enhances the estimated synchronous angular frequency and the response time. Consequently, the estimated synchronous angular frequency is approaching the 'true' angular frequency in a shorter period than one from the PLL alone.
