Abstract

In this paper, we propose to use an iterative adaptive approach to perform the Doppler processing in ground-based surveillance radar for drone detection. It overcomes the limited dwell time and improves the Doppler resolution, and therefore significantly enhances the discrimination of micro-Doppler signature and the correct classification of drones. In addition, the target detectability is also improved. This approach is validated in the field experiments conducted with a commercial portable ground-based surveillance radar.
