Interleaved soft-switching DC-DC converter with stacked voltage doublers

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

An interleaved soft-switching DC-DC converter with stacked voltage doublers is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter consists of identical converters which have input inductors and output voltage doublers. By utilizing an interleaving operation technique, the total input current ripple of the proposed converter can be significantly reduced. Since the output stages of each converter module are stacked to provide high voltage gain without large turn ratios of isolation transformers. In addition, the power switches in each converter module can operate with zero-voltage-switching (ZVS). Therefore, high efficiency can be achieved by reducing switching losses. The operation principle and steady-state analysis of the proposed converter are provided. A prototype of the proposed converter is developed, and its experimental results are presented for validation.
