Abstract
The visually impaired experience much inconvenience and difficulty in moving in indoor areas like metro stations due to a lack of guidance information. To solve this problem, pathway guidance using IoT-based technology is proposed in this paper, and positioning algorithms for indoor areas and mobile phone apps for user convenience are developed. For the feasibility study of the developed pathway guidance system for the visually impaired, tests were conducted with actual visually impaired persons at a virtual Busan city-hall metro station, and the satisfaction ratio for the development system was measured. The pathway guidance technology presented in this paper is expected to improve the mobility of visually impaired people in indoor areas, including railway station.
