title = "Knight Path: Supporting Player Sense-making in Game Narratives via Visual Scaffolding and Spoiler-Aware AI",
abstract = "Fragmented narrative delivery in games often causes cognitive gaps, while external resources risk spoilers and information overload. We present Knight Path, an adaptive system integrating structural visual scaffolding with on-demand, spoiler-aware AI guidance. The system combines interactive narrative visualization with a tiered AI assistant synchronized with live gameplay. A user study (N = 18) in a non-linear environment showed significant improvements in search efficiency and contextual clarity while preserving narrative immersion. Knight Path effectively addresses the conflict between seeking assistance and sustaining the joy of discovery by empowering players to manage narrative uncertainty.",
