Load-settlement behaviour of pile according to interface properties using FEA

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Piles are a long established technique dominated by practice as well as advanced research, but load capacities are at times in doubt. Therefore, a fundamental stubby is necessary to estimate the pile load capacity safely and reasonably. This study presents relationships between pile load (P) and settlement (S) according to various values of interface property in FEA using PLAXIS 2D and 3D program. It is known that an interface reduction factor (Rinter) related to interface strength plays a key role in the reasonable prediction of pile behaviour. As results of FE analysis, It is found that the estimated/predicted pile bearing capacity is becoming higher with increased Rinter.
