Abstract

This paper presents a method of long-term cycle control strategies for a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS). Several transmission and distribution long-term cycle functions can be implemented on the power management system (PMS) for BESS, but this paper focuses on system margin price (SMP) based shaving, which is both for energy time shift and also for maximization the benefit from the operation. This paper includes an illustrative example applying the method to SMP signal.
