Abstract
The 'Kokneter' or 'Kneader' involving a pin barrel single screw machine in which the screw both rotates and reciprocates in such a manner as to wipe the screw flights was invented by Heinz List in 1945. Since then a number of studies have addressed this machine. The present work aims to present a fundamental study of flow in a 'Kokneter'. An experimental study and a flow model in a composite machine consisting of a modular Kokneter and a crosshead screw extruder are described.
