title = "Multifunctional Reconfigurable Antenna Arrays with Distributed Diode Control",
abstract = "This paper presents a low-profile, multifunctional reconfigurable antenna array for 5G and 6G satellite communication. By integrating p-i-n diodes on the antenna layer, the proposed design enables dynamic reconfiguration of frequency, polarization, and beam direction. Three 4 × 4 array prototypes are developed. The first prototype achieves dual-linear polarization with 1.2 GHz bandwidth at Ka-band and 23 dB of cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) using an image configuration technique. The second prototype adds polarization switching and 1-bit phase quantization, enabling four operating modes and beam steering verified through a beamformer at 27 GHz. The third prototype supports both frequency and circular polarization reconfigurability for Ku-band uplink (13.8-14.5 GHz) and downlink (10.7-12.7 GHz) satellite communication.",
