Abstract

This corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete structures is detrimental to its service life. In order to increase lifespan and maintain serviceability, a qualitative measurement technique that can measure the extent of corrosion of reinforcing steel need to be developed. The purpose of this study is to develop a technique to measure corrosion of reinforcing steel using infrared thermal photographic data. The experimental results show that a test body emits stronger infrared thermal distribution on concrete surface that contains more corroded reinforcing steel.
