Abstract
A performance comparison of the pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter and variable DC link inverter schemes for a high speed sensorless control of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor was presented. Practical implementation issues concerning the commutation delay at high speed were discussed. The control system was implemented on a BLDC motor and was verified that a more stable sensorless operation could be obtained using the variable DC link inverter scheme at high speed.
