Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study iruasto identify the effect of psychological variables on predict physical activity.
Methods
ln a random sample ^f Koreanadults. A total of 291 adults (precontemplation:27, contemplation: 53, preparation: 60, action:38, maintenance stage: 1.1 3; and Mean age =32.0 years old) who are exercising in the sportfacilities located in S-Gu, Seoul. Stages ofphysical activity scale, attitude scale, subjectivenorms scale, perceived behavioral control scaleand intention scale were used to evaluate adults'physical activity and its related psychologicalvariables.
Results
lndicated that 51 .9%o oI adults are engaging in regular physical ac'l,irity, and the physical activity distributions were notCorresponding Author .: Kim YoungHg/"and Technology, South Korea, e-mail :statistically significantly different by gender.Meanwhile, attitude, subjective norms,perceivedbehavioral control and intention differentiated adults at different stages of physical activity. Statistical difference was significant in thestage of change in exercise behavior of all variables in this study.
Gonclusion
The findings of this study can be utilized as baseline data aimed at modifying individuals' psychosocial attributes associated with promoting physical activity. ln addition, the results of this research willprovide basic materials to set up strategies for improving the exercise behavior of adults.
