Psychophysical analysis of paint colors for wide color gamut display

Abstract

A series of physical measurements and psychophysical experiments using commercially available 1279 paint samples was performed in order to visually confirm the necessity of wide-gamut displays. Through the physical measurements, 3.8% of the samples were located out of BT.709 gamut. It was also that 2.2% of the samples were visually perceivable.
