Abstract
The multiple antenna systems have been recently adopted for many application areas of wireless communications. This technology could provide higher data rate utilizing the space division multiplexing with the limited frequency resources. However, the complexity of the system grows exponentially with the increase of the number of antennas to accommodate ever increasing demands for the high speed data transmission applications. One of the main computational complexities comes from the signal detector at the receiver side. This paper discusses a design method to reduce the implementation complexity for the channel decomposition which is an essential part of the signal detection. In this design method the sharing of the common operation blocks and the floating point operation techniques are utilized. Simulation based on the field programmable gate array platform confirms the significant amount of reduction of the required computational resources.
