Abstract

With the advent of digital devices, continuous developments have been made to human–computer interfaces. In particular, personal smart devices such as smartphones and tablet personal computers are moving away from the conventional keyboard interface and providing touch panel-based interfaces. These personal smart devices provide a variety of authentication systems for security. However, existing authentication systems using a touch panel lack the basic security functions or include an inconvenient interface such as a keyboard. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a user authentication technology that will be suitable for devices equipped with a touch panel interface and a sufficient level of security. In this study, we analyze authentication techniques based on input rhythms or keystrokes. Further, in this paper, we propose a rhythm authentication technology that uses the artificial rhythm of touch and drag in a touch panel environment and compare this technology with existing technologies.
