Abstract

A study of the seismic performance of precast pile-wharf connections was presented. The types of piles and pile connections used in seismic design of wharf construction were reviewed. An experimental program was designed to evaluate the seismic performance of these connections and to consider possible improvements to them. The tests evaluated the effects of axial load on the pile and of confining steel in the deck section on the connection performance.
