Abstract

The incorporation of small amounts of nano-sized metal particles into an Al2O3 matrix, for instance Al2O3/Ni and Al2O3/W nanocomposites, can significantly improve the mechanical properties. The optimum condition for the analysis of Al2O3/Cu nanocomposites is described. The effects of Cu dispersion on the microstructure and fracture toughness are analyzed.
