Abstract
This analysis explores how the introduction of smart devices as digital media affects the purchase of digital contents. The dependent variables are the amount of purchase of online fee-based digital content and the amount of application purchases using smart devices. The main explanatory variables consist of media usage behavior (i.e., time of media usage, time of contents usage), the individual traits influencing product consumption (i.e., intention to purchase, personality), and sociodemographic factors. The results indicate that the longer a smart device is used, the more purchases of fee-based online digital content and applications related to the smart device occur. Using smart devices as a new business model and distribution platform will foster long-term growth in the digital contents area.
