Abstract

This paper analyses the number of working hours a salary earner is willing to reduce for more time for leisure activities (henceforth, WH) based on data collected from a nationwide survey conducted on 1259 salary earners in Korea. To deal with zero WH responses given by a considerable number of respondents in the survey, the author uses a mixture model of WH distributions. The mean of the WH for the respondents who gave a positive value of WH was estimated as 3.04 hours per week, and that for all the respondents as 0.67 hour per week.
