Abstract
Things can't only get meta : Recent developments in regioselective functionali-zation of substituted arenes with transition metal catalysts include ortho functionalization by directed metallation and unusual meta-functionalization reactions which are difficult to achieve by conventional electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions.
