Abstract

Character graphics of TV home shopping has the characteristic of being constantly exposed on the broadcast screen where products are sold, and since it is often accidentally watched while switching channels, it is actively used as an important means to deliver product sales information quickly and efficiently.
However, I think that research is necessary because there are many different visual elements to consider and the amount of character graphics information exposed at one time, but there are few studies specifically suggesting visual standards. For this reason, this study conducted a study on character graphics from the perspective of ‘visual hierarchy’ targeting TV home shopping users. As for the research method, the visual hierarchy criteria applicable to character graphics were extracted as ‘color’, ‘shape’, ‘size’, and ‘position’ through investigation of various literature data. As a result of conducting an online survey on 300 women who purchased TV home shopping broadcasting products, ‘clearly visible color matching’ and ‘type size’, and ‘main-zone location’, where price and product-related information are concentrated, were identified as key elements of the visual hierarchy to be considered in character graphics. It was found that each hierarchical element is correlated with important information that viewers consider when purchasing a product.
This study is meaningful in that it specifically presented the criteria for visual elements to be considered when implementing character graphics from the perspective of TV home shopping users
